conceptual drive-by

The duo conceptual drive-by – whose members veil their identities behind an extra layer of noms-de-guerre (eden_jeneses and Omon Wynfryth) – provokes subversive sensations and affects through anarchic, rapid-fire conceptual interventions. This form of combat has perhaps deeper roots in philosophy than in art. Nietzsche declared that the aim of philosophy is to do harm to stupidity. Wittgenstein described philosophy as a fight against the bewitchment of our intelligence by means of language. Baudrillard claimed, “I am a terrorist and nihilist in theory as the others are with their weapons. Theoretical violence, not truth, is the only resource left us.”

Black-and-white illustration of a double-barrel firearm, surrounded by the words: Second-generation religious believers are also less likely to commit violent crimes.

Believing in the conceptual proliferation of theoretical weapons and the latent potential of noise-resistance, the duo asserts that it is high time we counter-strike the objective and normalized terror of state violence. Since the once-literary trope of cybernetic dystopia has already materialized and actualized, our task is to understand how it operates so that we can aim our theoretical (or, where appropriate, practical) instruments at it. In a binary regime, noise that cannot be encoded, intelligence gathered through reconnaissance, heat released to outwit the machine, unscannable improvisation that the system cannot interpret, and glitches that remain meaningless to the code all become effective only in the right context: they are the moments that trigger the short circuits capable of destabilizing the System©.

Even within this very statement, the duo deliberately employs a denser-than-usual web of both visible and invisible references as a small act of sabotage – a discursive overload designed to activate and unsettle receptive readers (the comrades! UwU) while simultaneously overextending the system’s capacity to process meaning. The intention is not merely to communicate but to induce friction: to transform practice and theory into sites of resistance, where conceptual excess becomes a multiple-barrel firearm and interpretation begins to explode limitlessly, functioning as an improvised explosive device – ultimately each action a bullet fired until the Machinery™ begins to buuuuurn.
